Selkin, located in the Selkin system, is the capital world of the Makilna galaxy chosen by the ambassadors of the Republic Parliament in 12RE (Republic Establishment). Prior to becoming capital, Selkin had a small human population that had established themselves there shortly before the Infinite War. Following it's designation as capital came a large influx of colonists. Thanks to strict policies regarding urban development, Selkin has retained much of it's natural beauty. The Republic Palace, constructed in 17RE-19RE, is home to the Republic Parliament and Republic Intelligence, with Republic Defense and Armed Coordination retaining a small, but usable, space in the building as well.

Due to Selkins importance to the Grand Makilna Republic, efforts are underway to construct a ring station around the planet. This station, named Eternity, is a joint project between Republic Defense and dozens of companies. The Grand Makilna Republic owns a portion of the station which it will use as RDAC headquarters while outfitting the rest of the station with offensive and defensive components. The rest of the station will be comprised of shipyards, docking bays, corporate headquarters, housing, and entertainment sections. The shipyards, while privately owned, will be used mainly by Republic Navy vessels. The housing and entertainment sections of the station will be built for station and corporate employees and their families as well as military personnel.

Here we see several Dreadnought class vessels in orbit around the capital. While typical day to day operation of the Navy sees the fleets scattered across the Makilna, Selkin always has ships in orbit.
